  • Hewlett Packard has confirmed that it is acquiring Autonomy Corporation for £7.1bn ($10.3bn). The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2011. Autonomy is the UK largest enterprise software company that entered the social media monitoring market in 2009 after the acquisition of Interwoven, Inc., a leader in content management software. Its solution, Autonomy’s Social Media Analysis (http://bit.ly/mPDqup) powered by Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) technology, enables businesses to automatically listen and analyze all form of social media including audio and video files to gain insights and efficiently engage with customers and markets.   • Webtrends, a leader in mobile and social media analytics, has acquired a real-time analytics company Reinvigorated from Media Temple Ventures. The acquisition of Reinvigorate brings real-time analytics expertise as well as new data visualization technologies such as heat maps, link maps and visitor path analysis to its analytics solution portfolio.   • Meltwater Group, one of the leading online media intelligence companies, has acquired acquisition of IceRocket, a top social search engine. The companies will provide the most comprehensive set of tools for monitoring, analyzing and engaging in conversations across social channels.   • Aegis Group PLC, one of the world’s leading marketing communications and market research groups, has acquired ICUC Moderation Services (“ICUC”), a global leader in social media intelligence and moderation services in June 2011 to support growing social media offerings.   • Echo Research, the global reputation analysis, media measurement and stakeholder research specialist has been acquired by Ebiquity Plc, the international media intelligence company, in May 2011 in £3.5M deal. In June 2011, Ebiquity has also bought a majority stake in its Russian media practice partner, JUMC (Joined Up Media Company) in a deal worth up to £1.2m, which is a joint venture with the Decision Group, the firm led by former MindShare Russia CEO Vladimir Rass.
